South Bay Japanese American Citizens League 2025 Scholarships
All qualified students are encouraged to apply for the South Bay Japanese American Citizen League (SB JACL) Scholarships. Scholarships are open to all students of Japanese American ancestry residing in the South Bay JACL Chapter area and a member of the JACL. Scholarship applicants must be planning or currently attending a college or university and attended one of the following high schools:
Bishop Montgomery High School
Palos Verdes Peninsula High School
California Academy of Math and Science
Redondo Union High School
Gardena High School
Rolling Hills Preparatory School
Mira Costa High School
San Pedro High School
Narbonne High School
South Torrance High School
North Torrance High School
Torrance High School
Palos Verdes High School
West Torrance High School
Students are required to fill out only one application. The scholarship committee will select the recipients for each scholarship based upon the requirements posted on each scholarship.

Requirements:
The South Bay JACL Kiichi Egashira Memorial Scholarships are open to students planning to attend or attending a college or university pursuing a bachelors or graduate degree in Physical and Biological Sciences, Engineering and/or Mathematics. Students must be a member of the South Bay JACL and attend or attended one of the local high schools listed above.
In previous years, $500 to $3,000 scholarships were awarded to qualified applicants.
Requirements:
The Janice Kobata Zoeger Memorial Scholarship is open to students planning to attend a college or university in pursuit of a bachelor's degree or a graduate degree in any field of study relating to biological sciences, foreign and/or ancient language or business. Students must be a member of the South Bay JACL and attend or attended one of the local high schools listed above.
In previous years, $500 to $1,500 scholarships were awarded to qualified applicants.
Requirements:
The Ernest K. Tsujimoto Family will award a memorial scholarship to a student planning to attend or be enrolled in a college or university in pursuit of an Undergraduate/Graduate Degree majoring in the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.
In previous years, $500 to $1,000 scholarships were awarded to qualified applicants.
Requirements:
The Gardena Valley Japanese American Citizens League Scholarship is open to high school seniors only, who are planning to attend a college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in any field of study and attend one of the local high schools listed above.

Requirements:
David & Lily Nakatani Scholarship is donated by David & Lily Nakatani who wanted to help our local high school students. The scholarship is open to High School Seniors only planning to attend a college or university in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree majoring in the STEM fields.
In previous years, $500 to $1,000 scholarships were awarded to qualified applicants.

All information and supporting documents MUST BE COMPLETE in order for your application to be considered. Materials submitted separately are not accepted, everything must be in one packet.
